Here are two shows that time out so that you can probably catch both. But you’ll have to travel a bit to see them, as the first is in Williamsburg and the second is in Park Slope.
First up, at 8pm at Pete’s Candy Store is Sasha Dobson. This is a busy time for Sasha. She released a new EP, Into the Trees, is released in January. That new six song EP finds Sasha using new sounds and covering such artists as Scott Walker, The Cure and Elliot Smith. She’s been playing on Sunday nights this month with her band at The Ace Hotel, and Puss n Boots, the band she is with Norah Jones and Catherine Popper, is getting ready to release a new album and go on a short tour. I’m not sure whether Sasha is playing with a band or solo tonight, but this show is certainly going to be worth your while.
Later, at 10:30pm, Dear Georgiana will be taking the stage at Union Hall. Call their music atmospheric folk-rock that’s melodic with very nice vocals. Dear Georgiana is led by Lauren Balthrop, who also plays in Elizabeth and The Catapult. Elizabeth Ziman frequently joins Dear Georgiana as well, and should be part of the band tonight.
